The wide trail to the top of Sulphur Mountain is very much forested.
Views do open briefly as the trail passes a waterfalls on the mountain's
east slope. There are twenty-eight switchbacks, which keep the grade reasonable
and easy the strain of the ascent. The trail steepens as it nears the
summit and the gondola terminal.
From the gondola terminal, a 0.4-kilometer boardwalk trail leads to the
summit of Sanson Peak along the ridge of Sulphur Mountain. The gondola
company still allows hikers who walked up the trail to ride the lift down
for free. Check the gondola's hours of operation, or you would have to
walk back down.
