The lake is framed by dark timber and a white glacier. The outing is short without any major climb, but the views along the way are non-existent.

Despite views along the way, Boom Lake is beautiful. A 600-meter cliff soars above the southern shore. The lake is long, narrow and aqua-green, forested at its edges and strewn with rubble on the north side. Early in the season, avalanches drop from Boom Mountain on the south side. Mount Quadra dominates the panorama to the northwest, and to the right are the forested lower slopes of Bident Mountain.
