Cirque Peak is an easy ascent reached by a popular trail to classic alpine surroundings. The ascent is not difficult, and is sometimes done in winter.

Hike the well-graded trail to Helen Lake. While it is very tempting to lounge in alpine meadows by the lake, the view is much better from the summit of Cirque Peak. Continue along the trail until an easy place to head up onto the ridge. Then it is pretty much straightforward from there. With every step gained, a wider and better view Wapta Icefields unfolds to the west; and to the southeast lies Mount Hector draped under a blanket of ice.

The east summit of Cirque Peak is marginally higher. Allow 1.5 to 2.0 hours from Helen Lake for the ascent, and less than half of that for the descent.
