Stoney Squaw is just like its twin sister, Tunnel Mountain, across the valley, it is not really a mountain. It is only a pimple of a mountain between Mount Norquay and Cascade Mountain.

The trail travels through dense forest and rises gradually. Continue on the trail until the trees thin out and views begin to appear down to the Banff townsite and the Spray Valley. The trail proceeds on to the summit, where the forest opens to an excellent view of 2998 meters Cascade Mountain. The panorama view encompasses the Bow Valley, tiny Tunnel Mountain, Mount Rundle, and Sulphur Mountain.
